Abstract (EN)
Aim: Evaluation of orthodontics anomalies according to Angle classification and identification of orthdontic treatment need according to ICON index. Material and Method: Our working team consists of 514 volunteer students from the schools of Malatya region which accredited by the the Ministry of Education and 514 patients who were admitted into orthodontics clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry department of the Inonu University for the treatment, it consists of a total of 1028 samples. Orthodontic models of each 2 working group of individuals have been obtained through using 3D Intraoral scanning device (3 Shape Trios). Through using these models: Orthodontics problems have been identified according to Angel classification (Clas I-II-III) The rates of Orthodontics treatment needs have been evaluated according to the ICON index, Orthodontic treatment needs and its degree of difficulty have been set forth according to the Angle classification (Class I-II-III). Results: In our study, for the first group %52,1 Class I, %43,8 Class II, %4,1 Class III anomaly have been observed according to the Angle classification. In our study, according to ICON index in the firts group %35.4 and in the second group %80,9 orthodontics treatment needs have been found. According to ICON index; in the first group %19,3 Class I anomalies, %52 Class II anomalies/ abnormalities, %57,2 Class III anomalies orthodontics treatment needs have been identified. In the second group, %74,7 Class I anomalies, %82 Class II anomalies, %89,1 Class III anomalies orthodontics treatment needs have been identified. Conclusion: While Orthodontics treatment needs according to ICON index in the population (Group I) less frequent than the patients (Group II) admitted to our faculty, Orthodontics treatment needs constitute a large proprtionin the population. When population rate taken into consideration, it is impossible to fulfil the Orthodontics treatment needs in our region. Orthodontics problems should be reduced In order to decrease the orthdontics treatment needs. This can only be achieved by implementing preventive medicine to the entire population between the ages of 3-10. Key Words: Angle classification, Orthodontic treatment need, ICON, Orthodontic anomalies
