Investigation of pre-school teachers views related to the use of moldable materials in centrum of Malatya

This study is planned to estimate the teachers? views about the use of moldable materials. A ternary survey sheet was used to determine the pre-school teachers? ideas related to the objective. The first section is formed by the questions in order to get personal information about teachers, the questions in the second section are evaluation oriented about the knowledge of the teachers related to the use of moldable materials, and the questions in the third section were oriented about the personal ideas of teachers corresponding to the use of moldable materials. Survey sheet was applied to the 127 pre-school teachers working at the kindergartens and pre-schools in 2005-2006 education year in centrum of Malatya. The data derived from the survey was evaluated by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t-test. When the relationship between teacher?s knowledge about usage of moldable materials and their ages, education levels, working experiences evaluated, it was observed that the difference between different ages was originated from the group of teacher at 20-30 years old and it was also found that this group showed statistically significant different results than 31-40 age group (p<0.05). The mean values of instructors who attend Preschool Department of Correspondence School, found to be significantly (p<0.05) different than collage graduates. Difference between the work experiences of these teachers were found to be the result of 11-15 years working teachers (p<0.05). The relationship between teacher?s personal opinions related to moldable materials and their ages, education levels, working experiences and the convenience of physical conditions of their classrooms were also observed and the difference between different ages was found to be originated from 41-50 aged group and statistically significant difference between this group and 31-40 aged teacher group were observed. The mean values of instructors who attend Preschool Department of Correspondence School, found to be significantly (p<0.05) different than Preschool Education Department and Child Development Education Department graduates. The difference between the opinions of teachers related to physical conditions of classrooms was found to be originated from teachers that complain about the conditions of their working places. The relationship between teacher?s knowledge and personal view about moldable materials were evaluated and statistically significant differences were found (p=0.000 p<0.05). It was estimated that the mean opinions of teachers ( X=74. 98) was better than their mean knowledge ( X =71. 23) about moldable materials.
