A research on the ethnobotanical valued plants in Malatya province

Abstract (EN)

This research were carried out to determination the ethnobotanical valued of plants are used especially medical purposes among the people in the province of Malatya. 330 plants samples were collected during area studies between June 2010 - July 2011 years. 45 families and 115 genera and 149 species and 6 infraspesific taxa were found by systematical evaluation of these plants.The determined ethnobotanical valued plants in the research area belong to important families and the their numbers of taxa as below respectively: Asteraceae, (26), Lamiaceae (21), Rosaceae (13), Fabaceae (9), Apiaceae (8). The informations about to vernaculer names, uses, collected localities, English names (if they have), known uses in the literature of these ethnobotanical valued plants have been given in this thesis. Determined these plants were used on the human and animal health, in the biological fight againist the harmful insects, as human and animal foods, cosmetic products, and ornamental plants.According to the information compiled in the province of Malatya, recorded uses in the literatüre and specified uses in Malatya province of 56 taxa are more or less similar, and these uses of 69 taxon are differentKey words: Malatya, Ethnobotany, Medicinal plants
