Abstract (EN)

The water samples were evaporated at low tempareture to form their sediment:;. The sediments were directly counted by using alpha spectrometer and beta scintillation counter for determination of gross alpha and beta radioactivity levels. The average gross alpha and gross beta radioactivity levels in Malatya and its administrative districts were found to be (0,1 185 ± 0,0106) Bq/1 and (0,2078 ± 0,0122) Bq/1 respectively. According to evaluated data, the average gross alpha radioactivity level is about the limit and the average gross beta radioactivity level is lower than the limit which accepted by WHO (World Health Organization) in drinking water. Keywords : Malatya, Radiation, Gross Alpha and Gross Beta Radioactivity. * This thesis is supported by TÜBİTAK (The contract number is YDABÇAG - 569).
