Ismail from Malatya and his work Dâstan i Acîb (Examination and criticized text)

Ismail from Malatya lived in the second half of the 16th century and he was a poet whose name has not mentioned in tezkires, although he wrote a mesnevi. Therefore, detailed information about his life could not be reached. This poet's work, which named Dâstân-ı Acîb, is a translation of a Cariye Teveddüd Story, which appeared in Persian culture, gained volume in Arab culture and took place in the Tales of One Thousand and One Nights. We do not have any information about the author of the translation work. We have two copies of this work, including a copy of Dâstan-ı Acîb in French and a copy in Koyunoğlu Library. While carrying out our study on these copies, purpose of creating a sample criticized text was the basis of our study. This work, which does not have much information about its translator, has a didactic character and has been examined from various angles by the researcher. In the first part of our study, which consists of three chapters, the Thousand and One Nights Tales which are the source of the work are emphasized and in the second part, Ismail from Malatya and his work Dâstan ı Acîb are evaluated, lastly, in the third part, a model text was created based on two copies. In this study, it is aimed to make a contribution to the field of Old Turkish Literature.
