Özet (EN)

In this study, were used blood samples from 96 Anatolian water buffaloes grown in Afyonkarahisar region. The study attempted to detect polymorphisms in the STAT5A gene, which are related to milk yield and milk composition. As a result of the work done, C / T polymorphism was detected at base 12221 in the 8th exon of the STAT5A gene. This polymorphism was found not to alter protein synthesis. However, it is known that the STAT5A gene is effective on milk production and milk composition in mammalian living. Therefore, is needed a longer and more comprehensive study to examine the other regions of this route and identify the SNPs. Due to the limited work on this gene in the water buffaloes, we have not found any documents to compare our findings. Much more work is needed to expand buffalo farming and increase milk yields.
