Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of the current study was to test the mediating role of wisdom between spirituality and eudaimonic well-being. Correlational research design of non-experimental quantitative method was the design of the study. Expressions of Spirituality Inventory, Wisdom Development Scale and the Questionnaire for Eudaimonic Well-being were employed as data collecting instruments. Chosen by convenient sampling, the participants were 593 (336 females, 257 males) undergraduates, ranging in age from 17 to 45, studying at various faculties and departments at a university in the Black Sea Region, Turkey. Data were analyzed via IBM SPSS 23 and SPSS AMOS 24. Hypotheses and regression weights were tested through structural equation modelling. Correlations were examined by Pearson's Product-Moment Correlation. Independent samples t-test was performed to find out if there was a significant difference by gender for each variable. The results indicated that spirituality, wisdom and eudaimonic well-being were interrelated; spirituality and wisdom positively significantly predicted eudaimonic well-being, and wisdom was a partial mediator between spirituality and eudaimonic well-being. Examined by gender, the results indicated that women got larger scores in Cognitive Orientation to Spirituality, Existential Well-being and Religiosity subscales of Expressions of Spirituality Inventory. Total scores for Wisdom Development Scale and Questionnaire for Eudaimonic Well-being also showed that women significantly got larger scores than men. The results of the current study are expected to set a favorable example to future studies on the terms wisdom and spirituality, which were found to be strong predictors of eudaimonic well-being. The results may also be helpful to academicians and practitioners for further researches. Key words: Positive Psychology, Eudaimonic Well-being, Spirituality, Wisdom
