OBJECTIVE: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the anxiety and depression levels of the research assistants (resident doctors) working at Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital during the pandemic period with the internationally valid HAD (Hospital Anxiety Depression) scale and to determine the relationship of this situation with sociodemographic and other environmental factors. In addition, it is aimed to shed light on the studies that will increase awareness on this subject and the decisions to take corrective and protective measures to support physicians in such a difficult time. MATERIALS-METHODS: The population of this cross-sectional study is Manisa Celal Bayar University (MCBU) Faculty of Medicine research assistants. Survey form; It consists of two parts, the socio-demographic data form in the first part and the HAD scale questions in the second part. The study was conducted on 220 research assistants through face-to-face survey at Manisa Celal Bayar University Medical School between February 2021 and May 2021. The HAD scale is a reliable scale to have information about the level of anxiety and depression in MCBU research assistants. RESULTS: 220 research assistants participated, mean age was 28; 44.1% are men, 55.9% are women. From research assistants; Among women and men, between those who have a risky person for Covid-19 in their household (31.4%) and those who do not, among those who lost a loved one due to Covid-19 (11.8%) and those who did not, among those who lost a patient due to Covid-19 (28%, 2) and those who do not lose, between those who provide transportation to the workplace (73.2%) and those who do not, between those who have children (8.6%) and those who do not, between those who took part in the pandemic (85%) and those who did not, and among those who did not. According to the distributions (triage, emergency service, inpatient service, intensive care, surveillance) there is no statistical difference in terms of depression and anxiety. Married people have higher anxiety scores than single people, but there is no difference in terms of depression. CONCLUSION: According to HAD scale scores, 43.1% of women in anxiety, 32% of men fall into the group with risky scores; in depression; 50.4% of women and 55.7% of men are in the risky group, which is very high. Research assistants working at Manisa Celal Bayar University Hospital during the pandemic have a high burden of anxiety and depression. This situation; This indicates that there is a strong need for multiple support, especially in the married group, in terms of identifying sources of anxiety, reducing the level of anxiety and additionally preventing depressive mood.
