Manisa-Köprübasi-Ragillar Village geochemical feature of uranium mineralization

Abstract (EN)

Purpose of this study is to determine distribution of uranium mineralization and physical and chemical factors affecting in the Rağıllar village. In Köprübaşı-Rağıllar region are observed Paleozoic aged Menderes Massive, Middle Miocene aged Köprübaşı Formation which includes high uranium content, Middle Miocene aged Okçular Formation and overlying Upper Miocene aged Adala Formation. In this study, sixteen whole rock samples (which were measured the highest natural radioactivity values range from 1.179 to 9.078 cps by Gamma Spectrometre) were collected from the samples setting around Ragıllar village and to determination mineralogical and geochemical features were analyzed by SEM-EDS, XRF, ICP-MS ve Leco method. Mineralogical features show that uranium enrichments associated with calcite matrix limestone, claystone and marl and flourapatite-rich rocks inside calcite-filled fractures and cracks systems. Geochemical data shows a strong positive correlation presence of between U and P2O5. Also these data indicate that, uranium is deposited in the oxidation zone by dissolving the primary minerals (Gneisses of the Menderes Massif) as phosphorus compounds due to circulations of groundwaters, passing through fracture, crack and permeables and stone units, carbonate and clay levels along, as pointed out the negative Eu anomaly. It was determined that, the average of uranium composition (0.042 % wt) in the Ragıllar area are higher than minimum uranium cutoff grade (0.035% wt).
