Abstract (EN)

Evaluation of a Physical Activity Intervention Program on 45-64 Aged Overweight Women in Muradiye District, ManisaObject: The purpose of the study is to evaluate whether if is an effect of the physical activity (PA) intervention program on body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), waiste hip ratio (WHR), body fat weight (BFW), body muscle weight (BMW) and body fat ratio (BFR).Materials and Method: This study is a controlled intervention study. The overweighted and obese women were separated two groups by randomisation which made by cross-sectional study as intervention and control group. Intervention group were exercised PA by gymnastics coaches, three times a week during three months. Both of the groups were educated regarding healthy life style. Antropometrical and BIA measurements were performed at the baseline and repeated on 6. and 12. weeks. A questionnaire was applied to the women at the beggining and at the end of the study. Student?s T test, Chi-square test, Fisher?s exact test, Mc Nemar?s test, Kruskall Wallis Varians Analyses were applied in data analyses.Findings: Waiste circumference and WHR measurements were decreased significantly on intervention group at the measurement on 6. and 12. weeks. Body weight, BMI, BFR, WC, HC, WHR, BFW, Fat Weight dispersion on legs and arms were decreased significantly considering to the beginnig measurements on intervention group. Body weight, BMI, BFR, WC, HC, fat weight on arms and legs were decreased significantly on the control group. The differencies have been compared after the study, it was indicated that, body weight, BMI, BFR, WC, HC, WHR, BFW, Fat Weight dispersion on legs and arms were decreased significantly on intervention group at the end of the study. Additionally the women in intervention group have had significant improvement of perception on the quality of life, compared to control group. Mental domain scores were increased in intervention group. While the enviromental domain score was increased significantly in control group, physical domain score was decreased significantly. According to the last evaluation, physical domain score of intervention group were determined higher compared to the score of control group.Result: The physical change of intervention group is a valuable findings on this study and it has clearly manifested the effects of PA intervention. It could say that, this study is a good model and it could be recomended as a guide for the multisectoral health promotion programs.
