Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to model VLF and magnetic methods by using integrated data processing and interpretation in archeological and geothermal sites. Theoretical studies were carried out to investigate the data processing and image processing methods, used in magnetics and VLF techniques. Afterwards they were applied to field data. Both one and three dimensional modelling were utilized in magnetic method and one dimensional (two-layer) modelling was used in VLF-R. As a new approach edge detection techniques were used together with horizontal gradient method as an application of boundary analysis on data for determinig location of the structure. Besides Canny, Prewitt and Sobel edge detection operators were applied to tilt data of VLF and it is achieved that results of Fraser filter and edge detection were both very similar.Geophysical exploration methods were utilized in Magnesia archeological site, Tuzla (Seferihisar) and Gülbahçe (Urla). As a result of the investigations the location of the Zeus temple in Agora of Magnesia was determined and it is modelled both with VLF-R and magnetics. According to the studies on Tuzla fault, depth, angle and other geometrical properties were obtained and a geothermal production well location is suggested. A very clear anomaly was achieved with the studies in the south of IYTE campus site in Gülbahçe and it is decided that this anomaly is an effect of Gülbahçe fault system. 3D VLF-R sections were made and it is estimated that this could be a result of presence of a hot water cathment area. Besides the computed depth values from VLF-R were utilized in pseudo-gravity inversion and a cooperative solution was achieved.
