Özet (EN)

Carpenters are constantly exposed to a noise level of 82 - 100 dB in their professional lives. The sound intensity of the carpenters increases to the level of damage to the inner ear according to the location of the carpenter and the tool they use. The aim of our study; The audiometry of hearing in carpenters, transient evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAE). A total of 62 people, 31 of whom were carpenters, 31 of whom were not exposed to continuous and / or sudden noise, were included in the study. After the hearing thresholds measurement, both groups were measured by stimulated otoacoustic emission test. The average age of the carpenters is 44.58 ± 10.33, the average age of the control group is 41.84 ± 8.65 and there is no statistically significant difference (p = 0.262). When we compared the right and left ear pure sound hearing thresholds of the carpenter and control group, there was a significant decrease in carpenters at all frequencies (p <0.05). The right ear emission values in carpenters were found statistically significantly lower at 2000 and 2800 Hz compared to the control group. When the left ear emission values of both groups were compared, the emission values of carpenters were statistically significantly lower at 1000, 2000 and 2800 Hz frequencies. As a result of the findings obtained in our study, the decrease observed in both pure sound audiometry and emission values support the development of noise-related hearing loss in carpenters.
