The Syrians in Mardin and its around

In this study, the Syrians, who had lived in Mardin and its around, have been examined. This study is occured in two section. In first section, the Syrians generally were examined. Therefore, first of all the information about the name of Syrian, origin, language, history has been given. Then, the Syrians in Turkey and forming in Turkey were examined. Under the title of the basis of belief; god, angels, holybook, doomsday, death and postseath, sin; under the title of the basis of praying, namaz, fasting, alms, pilgrimage and festival were studied in Orthodox Syrians. Church organization in Orthodox Syrians is made of bishop, priesthood and diacos.In the second section, the Syrians in Mardin and around were searched. By this aim, firstly in order to indicate the Syrians who are in Mardin and around , the name of Tur Abdin and Tur Abdin Region as a geographycal region name that has been given to the center of Metropolit which includes Syrians churches in this area were examined. Secondly the life of Syrians who lived in Mardin and around were studied. In that part, marriage, family life, traditions, cooperation, foundation, funeral, burying deaths were studied. Beside this, in that section, visual arts, emroidery, weaving, wool and silk carpet weaving, coppering, weaving kilim, stone carving were examined under the title of art in Syrians. In additional in this section, the monastery and churches which have the quality of Syrian chapels were studied in details.This thesis studying was completed with the conclusion part which is taken place main results which are reached related to examining topic.Keywords: Mardin, Tur Abdin, Syrians, Syrian Church and Monasteries
