Abstract (EN)

The political life of Marshal Fevzi Çakmak with multi political party had started in 1946 as being the independent candidate in DP list from Istanbul. The reason why Marshal who had been the Head of General Staff under the rule of CHP, single party for years was candidate from DP but not from CHP is that the President of Republic, İsmet înönü was the solely responsible for that he was retired from the Head of General Staff position. His offense against înönü had shaped the Marshal's policy and later, he did not find DP sufficient for the opposition and in order to make stronger opposition, he was not reluctant to take part in Nation Party (Millet Partisi [MP]) which was formed newly, despite of his older age. His age and healt did not allow him to make policy and he died on 10 April 1953. His funeral ceremony was quite strained and because of the excessive crowd, the state ceremony could not be performed. MP which was the second important opposition party of the multi political life had made very strong opposition against CHP and DP, but its opposition did not bring its expected enhancement in the 1950 election. Upon the election result of 1950, MP had entered into a re structuring period and tried to find the solution ways as organizing the important congresses, but those congresses had caused the conservationist-revolutionist division within MP and as a result, the revolutionist wing had separated from the party. This situation had not been beneficial for MP which had formed as nationalist structure for a long time in 1954, it had been closed by the resolution of Ankara State Court of Peace and its political life was ended.
