11 THE EFFECT OF EXPERIMENT PARAMETERS IN DETERMINING THE CONTENT OF MARSHALL DESIGN METHOD AND OPTIMUM BITUMEN (M. Sc. Thesis) Kürsat YILDIZ GAZI UNIVERSTY INSTITUE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ABSTRACT In our country's highways, with the traffic capacity, the increase of loads and the negative effects of weather conditions, cause permanent deformation like wheel rut, heaping and corrugation. In this study; to optimize asphalt concrete mixture Marshall desing method, is examined. Statistical analysis were made by using the parameters of the studies. To determine the optimum bitumen content, model equations have been formed and from these model equations optimum bitumen content has been tried to be determined. The results taken from model equations have been compared with the results of marshall experiment At the end of comparisons, increases and decreases by different ratios have been seen in the percentages of the optimum bitumen. Although these increases and decreases are small values, it has been determined that, they affect the physical properties of asphalt concrete coverings considerably.
