An analysis of articles published in the field of mathematics education in terms of different variables (Between 2010-2019)

The aim of this study is to analyze the articles published in the field of mathematics education between the years 2010-2019 in terms of different variables, to draw the general framework of mathematics education research in recent years and to set an example for future studies. Within the scope of the research, The Journal of Mathematics Education (MATDER), Necatibey Education Faculty Electronic Journal of Science and Mathematics Education (NEF-EFMED) and Turkish Journal of Computer and Mathematics Education (TÜRKBİLMAT) which can be found in the Dergipark database were scanned, and articles suitable for the research purpose (n:259) were examined. The distributions of the articles to universities, learning areas, subjects, research methods, research designs, teaching levels were recorded according to the sample group, data collection tool and data analysis methods. Findings are presented and interpreted with frequency, percentage tables and graphs. According to the findings, the most publications in the field of mathematics education were made in Karadeniz Technical University. It has been determined that the majority of studies are in the fields of numbers, operations and algebra learning and the subject area is mostly focused on problem solving at all education levels. In the majority of the studies, it was observed that the qualitative research method was used. In addition, it was determined that case study was mostly preferred in qualitative studies, the scanning design in quantitative studies, and the explanatory design in mixed studies. The studies were mostly carried out at the university level and undergraduate students were preferred as the sample group. Open-ended achievement tests were used to collect the data, and mostly content analysis was used as a data analysis method.
