Change of learning styles according to demographic characteristics of mathemati̇cs teacher candidates

In this study, it was aimed to examine change of learning styles according to the demographic characteristics of mathematics teacher candidates. The research was carried out with 185 mathematics teacher candidates studying in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of Kastamonu University Education Faculty Mathematics Education in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. In the study, the general screening model, which is one of the frequently used models in quantitative research, and which aims to explain a generally existing situation or reality as it is, was used. As a data collection tool, "Vermunt's Learning Styles Scale", whose Turkish form was created by Şeker (2013), was used. Quantitative data obtained from the research were analyzed with the help of SPSS package program and ANOVA and t test were applied to determine whether there was a difference according to group average scores. The data were interpreted in terms of demographic characteristics in line with the work activities, work motivations and views on work, which are included in the scale. According to the statistical data obtained in the result of the study, it was found that the learning styles used by the students showed a meaningful difference according to the duration of computer or smart phone use outside of work or homework. However, according to other variables (gender, age, grade level, income status and the period of acquaintance with the computer), it was determined that the learning styles of the students did not show a meaningful difference.
