Abstract (EN)
Dahriyya is derived from the word "Dahr" meaning time and was used by Mutakallimūn (Islamic theologians) to meet different religious and philosophical schools. Especially by Māturīdī theologians, religious groups such as Summaniyya and Sanawiyya/Dualists, naturalist-materialist philosophers, theist philosophers such as Aristotle and heretic Islamic movements such as Bāṭiniyya and Qarmatians were discussed and criticized under the title of Dahriyya. According to some researchers, this situation makes it difficult to understand the concept of Dahriyya and to determine its boundaries. In this study, in order to resolve the ambiguity and confusion in question, the foundations of Dahriyya were researched and all dahri groups were gathered under two headings as "Dahri Epistemology" and "Dahri Ontology". Dahri epistemology is an approach that accepts that all knowledge is based on the senses and rejects non-sensory knowledge and, accordingly, revelation. This approach also limits the method of going from the known to the unknown to the physical universe. Accordingly, they do not accept the inferences made by theologians from the universe towards Allah. Dahri ontology, on the other hand, refers to the approach that defends the eternity of the universe, denies creation from nothing, and explains the universe only by natural causes. In our study examining Dahriyya within the framework of Māturīdī theologians, we especially focused on Imam Māturīdī's original Dahriyya view and his criticisms of Dahriyya, we determined that Imam Māturīdī influenced the theologians who came after him, and we came to the conclusion that the Dahriyya criticisms of the Māturīdī theologians can contribute to the criticism of today's materialism. Keywords: Kalam, Māturīdī, Dahriyya, Dahri Epistemology, Dahri Ontology, Māddiyyūn, Tabī'iyyūn, Materialism.
