Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to understand modern consumers' view of life and lifestyles through consumption culture. In this context, what the culture industry brought and the perception and thoughts for consumption have been tried to be analyzed by in-depth interviews with 15 people living in Samsun province using hermeneutical method. This study, which comprises the consumption culture of consumers from the culture industry through their arrival to the consumption society, is shaped on the basis of shopping, mass media, social identity, family concept and spiritual values in daily life. As a result of the study, it is seen that the desire to have physical and false needs that the consumption culture brought, cause to the loss of values on the spiritual scale in the modern individual. This result is considered to be influential in experiencing emotional situations such as "unhappiness, lack of solidarity, loss of confidence, alienation, loneliness and loss of meaning" in the individual and loss of values and emotions that will provide peace in society.
