Abstract (EN)

There are two solutions for storage and unloading processes. One of them is traditional warehouses where human intervention is high and the other is Automatic Storage and Unloading Systems (ODBS), which provides automated solutions with less human intervention. ODBS needs technologically advanced robots and a warehouse design where these robots can move and adapt. In order to have these systems, it is often necessary to completely replace traditional warehouses. Today, the initial installation costs of systems that meet these needs are high. Traditional warehouse solutions are slow and risky in terms of security. In order for the manual forklift to store and unload the product, the rack width must be equal to the total length of the forklift and fork length. Within the scope of this thesis, an ODBS robot suitable for the most frequently used single-deep warehouse system in the market, which has low initial setup cost and minimizes unnecessary spaces in warehouses, has been designed and a prototype has been produced. With its mecanum wheels, the robot has the ability to move 8 linearly horizontally and rotate around its own axis. Due to its ability to rotate around its own axis, it can rotate left and right without changing its position. It can put the product on the shelf and take it from the right and left sides with its original design, not from the front like manual forklifts. For this reason, the robot moving in the corridor can store and unload the product without the need to turn only by approaching the shelf. It performs its vertical movement with the elevator system that provides access to the upper shelves of the robot in its design. The control of the prototype of the ODBS robot is made with the Arduino Mega board, which is a microcontroller based on the software-based system ATmega2560. It uses less energy than other ODBS used. With its low energy consumption, it complies with the Energy Efficiency Law. With its structure suitable for single-deep conventional warehouses, this robot is a perfect solution for the needs of companies that need ODBS in the market but cannot install ODBS due to the initial installation cost. With this developed system, traditional warehouses are transformed into ODBS with low cost. In the introduction, which is the first stage of this thesis, the purpose, importance, parts and scope of the research carried out within the scope of the thesis were evaluated. In the second part, the definition of ODBS is made and the basic components that make up the ODBS are introduced. In the third part, extensive literature review about ODBS types is made and introduced by classifying. In section 4, detailed information about the developed system is given and its original aspect is emphasized. The materials used in the developed robot were introduced and the information about why they were used was examined in detail. In the 5th part, a general evaluation has been made about today's ODBS with its advantages and disadvantages. The contributions of the developed system to today's ODBS solutions are emphasized, and suggestions are presented to the question of what can be done in future studies
