Abstract (TR)

The increasing demand for environmental friendly materials and the desire to reduce the cost of traditional fiber lead to the development of natural fiber composites. Natural fibers presented in the composite have some important advantages such as low density, appropriate stiffness. Mechanical properties of natural fibre composites are much lower than those of synthetic fiber composites in an effort to develop a superior, but economical composite, a natural fiber can be combined with a synthetic fiber in the same matrix material so as to take the best advantage of the properties of both the fibers. In this study, tensile, flexural and impact properties of jute, glass and hybrid jute/glass fiber nano-silica particle filled epoxy matrix laminated composites were investigated. Nano-silica content ratios were 1wt %, 2wt% and 3wt % in the epoxy. Hybrid configurations were produced as G8, G1J6G1, J3G2J3, J2G1J2G1J2 and J8. The composite laminates were fabricated by hand lay-up process. The charpy impact tests were conducted according to ISO 179/92 standard, tensile tests were conducted according to ASTM D638-10 standard and flexural tests were conducted according to ASTM D790-10 standard. The results of the tensile, flexural and impact tests showed that 2wt.% ratio of nano-silica content gives the best values for all hybrid and non-hybrid configurations.
