Abstract (EN)
The most important event that took place in the Ottoman Empire at the beginning of the 20th century, the efforts of the Committee of Union and Progress, the second Constitutional Monarchy was declared. This situation paved the way for the birth of parliamentary life. This study focus on the general elections held in Saruhan/Manisa between 1908-1920. In this study, it is aimed to reveal how the elections took place and the activities of the deputies in the parliament. As a result of the Ottoman Parliament elections held in 1908, 1912, 1914 and 1919, Haydar, İlhami, Mansurizade Sait, Tokadizade Şekip, Mehmet Sabri (Toprak), Mustafa Fevzi (Sarhan), Tireli Mustafa, İbrahim Süreyya (Yiğit), Muvaffak (Menemencioğlu), Celal (Bayar) and Reşit (Pshisov) elected as Saruhan deputies. Saruhan deputies of the Second Constitutional Era worked in the first, second, third and fourth periods of the 1908-1919 Parliament. Saruhan deputies, most of whom are members of the Committee of Union and Progress, mostly focused on political, legal and financial issues in the parliament.
