Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to include the recycle of wastes that is an important problem in the textile industry, by converting them into a high value added medical product. In this framework, by using sustainable resources from textile industry cotton wastes which contain a large amount of cellulose in the structure. The synthesis of innovative structures that are biodegradable and usable in many biomedical applications have been determined as the main goal. Especially today, cellulose-based gels that can be used in many biomedical applications such as drug delivery systems, dressing materials, tissue and cell support materials since there are high biocompatibility in these type of structures. It is possible to use cellulose-based gels as sensors, as enzyme immobilization matrices, as drug delivery systems and as wound dressing materials. The biocompatibility and biodegradability properties of these synthesized structures examined. Systems containing cellulose-based structures showed more environmentally friendly and biocompatibility among other polymers. In order to increase the structural biocompatibility and provide surface effect, surface modifications carried out. Furthermore ionic liquids and other azeotropic solutions, including copper salts were also used in surface modification processes. The structural analysis of the obtained cellulose gels were done by FTIR, NMR and elemental analysis techniques. Thermal properties examined with DTA, TGA and DSC techniques. Surface analyzes provided with AFM, liquid contact angle and SEM techniques. The biocompatibility of the synthesized polymeric structures was determined with MCF 5 cells in vitro, wound dressing material applicability was tested as different application areas. As a surface modified structure, its applicability as tissue scaffold and drug carrier was proven.
