Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the first edition of Ottoman citizen and soldier Mehmed Ali's "Otomobil Motorları ve Sûret-i İstî'mali", published in 1912, is analyzed and transliterated. This work stands out in its own field as being the first work written in Turkish and -probably- the first copyrighted work. It was not possible to write a detailed biography of Mehmed Ali in this thesis. However, some information about Mehmed Ali was obtained from the prefaces of the works that were identified as belonging to him. In the first edition of Otomobil Motorları ve Sûret-i İstî'mali in 1912, the author used the title "sanayi mülazımı". In the second edition in 1924, it was determined that he had retired as a senior captain. Mehmed Ali stated that he was sent to European factories, where he read many works on internal combustion engines. He stated that the purpose of writing this work was to provide the sons of his homeland with theoretical and practical knowledge about automobiles. As a result of the evaluation of the work, various comments were made. Finally, other books by Mehmed Ali were also found as a result of this thesis. The list of books found included language learning books, a copyrighted work on automobile engines, and a list of German-Turkish dictionaries.
