Abstract (EN)
The topic of this thesis is monument statues and in specific Statue of Humanity and Mehmet Aksoy, who has been on the agenda recently with his work of monument statue. The artist, who is well-known with his sculpture works in modern Turkish art, various installations of which his sculptures have been used, has usually used marble in his works. His works on various forms and different themes are in varied number of collections in Turkey and the world. These sculptures cover a wide range of works of which dimensions are from little bronze sculptures to monuments made as moulding. The sculptor has won several awards such as outstanding service award, honour award. The artist, representing Turkey in several biennials, has continued working on his works in 'bettle house' that he gave as a title to his workroom. Mehmet Aksoy, has recently been on the agenda with his Statue of Humanity which has been discussed in ideological dimensions. Being projected in cooperation with Kars deputy major of the period, the monument has started in 2004. The construction of monument was stopped as a result of some articles being changed in law during the construction period. After overcoming all these problems, the construction of the monument was continued. After overcoming the formidable obstacles, the monument was demolished completely in the middle of the year 2011.
