Existansialism in the novels of Mehmet Eroğlu, fay kırığı üçlemesi and 9,75 santimetrekare

Modernism that was evoked by the results of developments in technology weakens us, the humanity against mechanization. The struggle between humanity and mechanization is still in progress today. As the conclusion of the war mentioned, the humankind has trouble in finding a place in the crowd or defining himself. Furthermore, the individual is dragged into non-existence and starts to be isolated from the society by suffering loneliness and isolation. Social destructions that were occurred because of negations in the mid of 19th century such as war and death provoked the transposition to individuality. Especially after the World War II, many movements emerged in Europe. One of these movements is our research subject, existentialism. As to focusing on the borders of existentialism, it can be said that it has influenced not only the field of philosophy, but also literature. This movement owns prominent representatives in European Literature. There also exists some Turkish authors and writers that were influenced by existentialism. One of these authors on which we think to make research is Mehmet Eroğlu. In this study, four novels of Mehmet Eroğlu, 'Fay Kırığı I: Mehmet', 'Fay Kırığı II: Emine', 'Fay Kırığı III: Rojin' and '9, 75 Santimetrekare' were analysed. Moreover, in the study, it is aimed to observe the transposition toward loneliness and isolation that were caused by belonging and identity problems of the protagonists struggling in the middle of conflicts that were resulted by the polarizations in Turkey.
