Mehmet Hâlis Efendi ve Mehmet Hâlis Efendi Dîvâni

This study focused on Classical Ottoman Poetry?s poets of Mehmet Hâlis Efendi?s Divan and his life who had lived in 17th century. The Divan?s transcription and analysis were introduced.Mehmet Halis Efendi was born in İstanbul and after he completed his education, he performed his duty as professor and kadi. He was a mediocre poet.There is only one copy of Mehmet Halis Efendi?s Divan. There fore, our study was carried out from this copy. There are totally 140 poems in this Divan.This study has three parts. In the first part, It was mentioned about Mehmet Halis Efendi?s life and his literary personality thanks to the sources and his own poems.In the second part, the poems in Mehmet Halis Efendi?s Divan were examined according to their verse forms. In this part, his using of meter and rhyme were introduced with examples. The proverbs and idioms which he used in his poems were explained.In the third part, Mehmet Halis Efendi?s Divan?s text was introduced. At the end of this study a detailed index had given.In the conclusion part, the elements in Mehmet Halis Efendi?s Divan were explained in general terms and the study was accomplished.KEY WORDS:1.
