Özet (EN)

The study problematizes the relationship between public sphere theories and the space concept. How the notion of "sphere" matches up with spatiality in public sphere theories is scrutinised via publicity ideas of Jürgen Habermas, Hannah Arendt and Richard Sennett. In this study, there are two different approaching of sphere notion which are topographical approach and procedural approach. The topographic area approach points out the physical space that exists in particular area of city in a way that allows the public interactions. The procedural area approach includes areas that are independent of space and process of being formed. Another component of the study, i.e., space, is evaluated in the context of physical categories. Within the framework of this set meanings the role of space in theorists' approaches to public sphere theories is analyzed comparatively. Consequently, Habermas and Arendt fictionalize publicity irrespective from place and space. Sennett, on the other hand, tends to think of publicity together with space and place. These result obtained through a critical reading of scholars, is re-evaluated within the framework categories such as universalism, localism.
