Abstract (EN)

Space is beyond something that surrounds human being. What takes human beyondthe physicality of it is the athmosphere of that space. This study focuses on what graphicdesign can offer to environments besides giving information and directions. Graphicdesign?s ability to create visual identity is investigated through environments as well as itsfavorable position to implement creative visual communication solutions.The introduction chapter defines the problem, aim and the significance of the study,while on the second chapter the definiton of space and its value in human life throughouthistory is discussed together with the identity issues related to space. Urban culture,advances in technology and interdisciplinarity are examined in relation to emergence ofnew trends and developments in graphic design field, as well as the reflections of theseopenings on graphic designers. These advances, causing designers to portray more tangibleand concrete approaches, together with the widespread of consumer culture and theconsumption of environments, the distinguishing role of environmental design is presented.The conclusion chapter summarises the diagnosis and introduces the project part of thisstudy.
