Abstract (EN)

The use of presses which occupy special position in the sector chipless forming machine toolindustry is everincreasing. Among the presses frames which can be classified in two maingroups as open gap (C-chaped) frames and double-sided (O-shaped) frames,the double-sidedones, because of the form advantages,are attainning more impotance in productionengineering, espesially for higher capacity.In this thesis, an investigation on double-sided press frames and an evaluation of the desingswhich have separate nonwelded beds are done, the neccessary desing formulae are establishedand practical desing tables are prepared.Anevaluation of the press sector of the machine tool industry is done.The theoretical and experymental studies on the classified press types done up today aresummarized. The characteristics of double-sided, welded steel hydraulic press frames whichhave no complete method of design calculations, but are widely manufactured in our countryare given. The desing criteria, the limitetion of maximum deflection on the bed plate isdetermined as the suitable design criterian.The basic equations of the theory of plates are introduced and the reduction of the problem ofbending of a plate to that of deflection of a membrane is shown.The method of obtaining the deflections of the double-sided frames by general methods ofapplied mechanics and the reduction of the frames to a smply supported deep beams formostly used geometrical rations, are given. Finite Differences Equations are obtained tocalculate deflections of a rectangular plate supported elastically along the edges by elasticsupports of different rigidity, loaded by the press forces, and the approximate boundary valuescalculated before are used to determine deflections of press bed plate.The total permitted deflection limited by the desing criterion is divided between the frame andthe bed plate in order to be used in dimensioning them. In this way, by equation the dividedvalue of criterion to the deflection of the members calculated in the previous section, desingformulae are obtained.The measured deflections and forces on two typical examples of 150 tonnes double-sidedwelded steel drawing presses are given and compared with the calculated values in the thesis.Lastly, in the thesis, the dimention of a pres frame having the same nominal dimentions as the150 tonnes example are calculated by the developped formulae and the tables given in theprevious section. The rigidity and meterial saving obtained through the new formulation areshown.Key words: Pres, mechanical presses, frame, design.
