Comparative Analysis of the Work of Makki b. Abi Talib, er-Ri'aye li Tecvîdi'l-Kırâ'e ve Tahkîki Lafzi't-Tilâve, and the work of Ibn al-Jazari, et-Temhîd fî 'İlmi't-Tecwid

In order to read the Quran with correct pronunciation and free from errors, it is necessary to know the rules of tajweed well. Because Allah Almighty commanded, "Read the Quran piece by piece, giving it its due." This study is related to the science of tajweed and has been prepared to examine two figures who are considered leaders in this field and their works. Our first author is Mekki b. Abi Talib and his work named er-Ri'aye, and our second author is Ibn al-Jazari and his work named et-Temhîd. Makki b. Abi Talib is a great scholar who devoted his life to knowledge. The contributions of our author, who was a guide for those who came after him in the science of recitation and tajweed, have continued to have an impact even today. Ibn al-Jazari, on the other hand, made every effort to become a person who was passionate about knowledge since his childhood, and his works, which he wrote when he was still young and are still respected in the Islamic world today, reveal how much he was fond of knowledge. This study is a master's thesis and a comparison has been made between the works of Mekki ibn Abi Talib, named er-Ri'âye and Ibn al-Jazari and al-Tamhîd. The study consists of an introduction, three main sections and a conclusion. The subject, purpose, importance and method of the thesis are explained in the introduction. In the first section, the life of Mekki ibn Abi Talib, his teachers, students, works and especially his work called er-Ri'âye are examined. In the second section, the life of Ibn al-Jazari, his teachers, students, works and especially his work called al-Tamhîd are discussed. In the third section of our study, the work of Mekki ibn al-Ri'âye and the work of Ibn al-Jazari called al-Tamhîd are compared in terms of the concepts of tajweed. In the conclusion section, the findings we have obtained from the comparison made on the subjects covered are evaluated. The study was prepared by making use of books, theses and articles that are considered reliable on the science of recitation and tajweed. Keywords: Qiraat, Tajwid, Mekki b.
