Abstract (EN)

In this study, the piano concerto "Concierto Romantico" by a Mexican composer Manuel Ponce has been analyzed in terms of its harmonic and formal aspects. A detailed discussion of Mexico's history has been provided, along with an exploration of the impact of this historical process on art and music. In the first part, the civilizations that lived on the territory of Mexico and the changes in the history, art and music life of the country that spent three hundred years as a Spanish colony after that are described. Sections from Ponce's life, the influence of the current of nationalism that emerged in Mexico during his time on his music and the effects of Ponce's unique understanding of musical nationalism on the history of Mexican music are described. The main subject of the thesis, "Concierto Romantico", has been examined in terms of its structural features, harmonic structure and form. The writing style and features unique to Ponce, which use Mexican themes together with harmonic and rhythmic elements of the structure, are examined decently. All these studies are aimed at introducing the concerto, which has not been previously performed in our country, to music circles and students studying piano. Due to the fact that Ponce had a large number of piano works, but did not receive enough attention, it was envisaged that this thesis would arouse curiosity about the composer and serve to study and play the work more.
