Abstract (EN)
Cyprus, which has been home to many civilizations throughout history, has been both an important trade center and a struggle area for countries due to its strategic location. Cyprus, which maintained its commercial vitality with the Ottoman administration, has become the center of attention of many states. However, as the movement of Nationalism spread by the French Revolution in the late 18th century had an impact on the Greeks living in the region, the commercial and social harmony in the region was replaced by rebellion movements. On the one hand, the Greek rebellion attempts on the one hand and the Russian pressure on the Ottoman State on the other hand led to the transfer of Cyprus to England, even temporarily. This process was followed by the Treaty of Lausanne with the assimilation of the British presence on the island and the assimilation of the Turkish citizens to the British nationality. At the same time, the massacres carried out by the EOKA organization, which was created by the Greek Cypriots who caused problems in the region, gave some signals about the future of the island. As a result of these attacks and terrorist activities, the problems experienced by the Turkish Cypriots were expressed in letters and telegrams. In fact, some non-Muslim elements from Europe who did not remain indifferent to these events expressed their support to the Turkish people in letters. The constructive attitude of the Turkish side was appreciated in the letters sent and it was stated that the main reason of the non-settlement was the Greek side and Makarios. Although the process to be undermined by widespread politically motivated and large letters and telegrams Although the support prevents the Republic of Turkey has tried to be removed.
