RECOVERY OF SILVER(I) IONS FROM SOLUTIONS BYMELAMINE-FORMALDEHYDE-THIOURE (MFT)CHELATINGRESINHalil YİRİKOĞLUSUMMARYKeywords: Melamine-Formaldehyde-Thiourea (MFT), Chelating Resin, Silver (I)ions, Recovery. In the present work, melamine-formaldehyde-thiourea (MFT) resin was synthesizedand the recovery of Ag+ ions from solutions by this chelating resin was studied. Itwas found by batch method that the optimum pH is 3 to be recovered silver (I) ions.Adsorption capacity was calculated as 60,05 mg Ag+ / g resin. Moreover, in thecolumn studies, selective recovery of Ag+ ions from Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ca2+ ions in thesame solution was examined. It was seen that the melamine-formaldehyde-thiourea(MFT) resin showed higher affinity to Ag+ than Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ca2+ ions. It wasconcluded that Ag+ ions can be concentrated and separated from Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ca2+ions.
