Detection and classification of Human Papillomaviruses (HPV) in Human Breast Cancer by PCR and Hibridization

Abstract (EN)
Breast cancer is the most common reason of mortality in women and also it is most documented malignancy of women in our country.HPV is very common infection. The association between human papillomavirus(HPV) and anogenital tumors, especially cervical cancer, is well documented. However,a correlation between HPV and human breast cancer remains unclear. Several independent studies have reported whether the presence of HPV in breast cancer aetiology or not.The aim of the present study investigate the presence of HPV in patient with breast cancer. Between 2007 and April 2010, 60 patients who have been reported as a breast cancer as histopathologically and 40 patient who have been reported other diseases ( 20 fibroadenoma, 20 mammoplasty) were included to our study and their paraffin tissue samples were examined.Total 93 samples were included in this study 53 of them were ın study group and 40 samples were in control group. HPV DNA was detected positive in 13,2% of them study group and 5 % of them control group.Only one HPV type ( HPV type 6,16,18,84,91) was detected in 8 positive samples and multiple types of (HPV 16,18) was detected in 1 positive sample. In HPV DNA positive grup 5 of 9(55,5%) were determined high risky type(HPV 16, 18), 3 (33,3%) low risky type(HPV 6, 84, 95) and also high risky and low risky hpv types (HPV 6, 18)were detected in 1 sample (11.1%).DNA was extracted in all of the breast cell samples by PCR techniques and HPV primaries, and with the hybridization technique HPV types were classified.Consequently in our study the relation between the HPV and the breast cancer was detected lower than the previous studies. Moreover high risky. HPV?s were determined in women who were sexually more active. Low HPV positivity ratro is probably as a result of social and cultural features of our region.İn addition more epidemiological studies are necessary to support these findings.
