Abstract (EN)

In this study, two copies of Menâkıbu'l-Cevâhir written by Yahya bin Bahşi were examined in the context of oral and written culture. "Menakıpname" is a series of texts which are brought together consisting of many legends which are products of oral culture. From this point of view, the aim of the thesis is to determine whether oral performance has an effect on a manuscript text in two selected copies of Menâkıbu'l-Cevâhir, which is one of the products of the manuscript period, and what kind of features the anecdotes shaped by oral tradition gain in the context of writing. Thus, it is aimed to see the effect of context difference in the texts in the narratives that are written from the spoken texts in the selected texts. It is expected that this study will contribute to the understanding of the transition from oral culture to writing in the Turkish narrative tradition. This study consists of "Introduction" and six chapters. In the "Introduction" section, there are informations given about oral and written cultural environments and menakıbnames. In the second section the method of thesis is explained. In the third part, information is given about the copies of Emir Sultan, Yahya bin Bahşi and Menâkıbu'l-Cevâhir. In the section named as "Registered copy of Menâkıbu'l Cevâhir in the Kemankeş Section of Hacı Selim Ağa Library, No 410/1", the verbal and written context elements were determined. The verbal and written context elements are given in the "Registered Copy of Menâkıbu'l Cevâhir in the Context of Speech and Written in İBB Atatürk Library, Osman Ergin Manuscripts Section No Oe_Yz_0639/01". The comparison of these detected elements was examined in the section "Comparison of Examined Copies". This study was completed with "Conclusion" and "References" sections. In this study, it has been found that the context features of oral culture continue as well as the context features of the written culture in Menâkıbu'l-Cevâhir. After examining the two copies, the differences in expression were revealed in the comparison made.
