Abstract (EN)

Searching for alternative fuel has accelerated due to petroleum reserves are in certain countries? monopoly, the risk of depletion of petroleum in the near future and consumption of the petroleum products is harmful to both living beings and environment. The renewable vegetable oil which has similar properties to those of petroleum based fuel has come forward among the alternatives. In this study, it has been produced the methyl ester of bıttım oil by using reesterifacation of bıttım oil. The physical and chemical properties of the produced biofuel were determined by mixing it with normal diesel fuel at the ratio of % 10 (B10), % 25 (B25) and % 50 (B50). The acquired B10, B25, B50 mixtures were tested in a one-cylinder diesel engine, and they were evaluated and compared with diesel fuel in terms of the engin?s performance at varied engine revolution per minute with full throttle.
