Abstract (EN)

Objective: Ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials (oVEMP) recorded from extraocular muscles, can be used to evaluate utricle and superior vestibular function. The purpose of study is to evaluate whether oVEMP test has a value of being a part of clinical test battery and to assess distinctive diagnosis of different diseases which are Ménière's disease, migraine and vestibular migraine. Method: 31 patients with Ménière's, 30 with migraine, 31 with vestibular migraine and 45 healthy cases were included in study. After ENT examination, audiologic evaluation and oVEMP with 500 Hz tone burst stimuli were performed in 137 participants. The thresholds, latencies and amplitudes of N1-P1, peak-to-peak N1-P1 amplitude were recorded all participants. Results: No response could be obtained 8 patients unilaterally and 15 patients bilaterally in Ménière's group. In migraine and vestibüler migraine group oVEMP response could be obtained most of patients. In control group thresholds were lower than Meniere's and vestibular migraine group. P1 latency was significantly prolonged in control group than migraine groups. In control group N1-P1 and interpeak amplitudes were significantly higher than Meniere group. Findings were obtained similar vestibular migraine and Meniere's group. Conclusion: There are some difficulties to diagnose different pathologies which similarities in regard of vertigo attacks and clinical symptoms. oVEMP test can be applied for distinctive diagnoses of Ménière's, migraine and vestibular migraine so that oVEMP can be a part of audiovestibular evaluation battery. Key words: oVEMP, Ménière's Disease, Migraine, Vestibular Migraine
