Abstract (EN)

Menopause is a significant period in a woman's life due to its impact. The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of spousal support on menopausal symptoms and attitudes in women during menopause. This analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted with 384 menopausal women who presented to Yenikent State Hospital between December 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025. The "Women's Identification Form," the "Menopause Spouse Support Scale," the "Menopause Symptoms Assessment Scale," and the "Attitude Towards Menopause Scale" were used to collect data. SPSS 25.0 was used for data analysis. For normally distributed data, independent groups t-tests were applied for two independent groups, one-way analysis of variance was applied for more than two groups, and group differences were examined using the Bonferroni test. The relationship between numerical variables and the effects of independent variables on dependent variables were tested using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. Significance was set at p<0.05. The average age of menopause for women was determined to be 46.55±5.04 years. Menopausal symptoms were found to be of moderate severity, and attitudes towards menopause were positive. A statistically significant negative correlation was found between the menopausal partner support scale and somatic, psychological, and urogenital complaints, and menopausal symptoms, while a statistically significant positive correlation was found between the menopausal attitude scale and menopausal symptoms (p<0.05). It was found that as spousal support for menopause increased, menopausal symptoms decreased and attitudes towards menopause increased. It is recommended that the first step in providing support to women is to ensure that spouses are adequately informed about menopause and its management.
