The center right and Turkish foreign policy

This study is focused on specific periods of Turkish foreign policy which has gone through many phases since the foundation of the republic and the analysis of foreign policies which were carried out in those periods. Specific periods of Turkish foreign policy are intended to be the years of which Democratic Party, Justice Party and Motherland Party which are defined as center right parties within the context of depending on neoconsevative and liberalist ideological perspective have been in power. The ultimate goal of this study is to offer a panoramic definition of the perceptional manner and attitude with view of the foreign policy of the parties which are referred as in right wing characterization in a country like Turkey whose political topography is full of fragile faults. In this regard political thoughts are generally described as left and right wing, the parties supporting right centered ideological, political spectrum and defined as center in terms of including a certain alignment establishes the starting point of this study with their discourse, attitude and policy. Accordingly, this study aims to reveal similarity and invariability lines in the center right parties' foreign political attitudes.The study is going to point out the centre right parties in Turkey in terms of both thoughts and actions. In this regard, while the first part of the study has a perspective concerning thoughts, the second part is about actions as well. The first part of my study includes actions can be amplified as the origins of centre right thought is seperated into two sub-headings. First, government centrist approach which concentrates on the history of Turkish modernization (also realism in this context) and the approaches which are based on the ground of classification. Secondly, epistemological and ontological bases of the right parties in Turkey will be explained. Concordantly, it will be revealed that right parties in Turkey came out in order to defend bourgeoisie's interests in a period in which ontologically there were interclass irreconcilableness and that epistemologically they are a movement which is based on a culturalist criticism in the sense of Kemalism ideology. In the second part of the study, actions of right parties in Turkey will be presented. Within this context, firstly Democrat Party considering Cyprus problem as an example, secondly Justice Party on that so-called autonomy condition of the period is taken into consideration and finally Motherland Party through Gulf War will be indicated. The main underlying inducements of these attitudes beyond belief for the USA is a representative of modernization and a conviction that we are nothing without the USA. Likewise, centre right parties are the parties which strive to be articulated in word capitalist system, leave capitalist modernization to the mercy of bourgeoisie and seek after getting a lower-imperialist part by being overcome with cyclical imperialist waves.
