Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis; The aim is to examine the sustainability criteria of an existing raw material processing plant and to address the deficiencies identified in the existing plant within the framework of sustainability criteria with another projected raw material processing plant, and the studies aimed at improving the projected new plant. In the study, it is mentioned about the examination of marble residues used as raw material in the industrial field, the distribution of reserves in the world, the regions where they are mined in Turkey, how the wastes are consumed and the usage areas of these residues. The process from the methods used by the calcium carbonate raw material preparation plant on the Marmara Island, where the residues can be evaluated as raw materials, to the selection of qualified marble residues, from the crushing and screening process where the residues are passed, to the shipment of the final product are discussed in detail. Sustainability criteria for a plant where calcium carbonate raw material is obtained by utilizing the marble residues are examined and discussed in seven criteria. These are, innovative production criterion, contributing to the economy by evaluating alternative wastes. Occupational health and safety criterion is that the occupational safety risks to be realized in the quarries will also decrease as a result of the minimize in the activity in the mines and the tendency towards alternative raw materials. Efficiency criterion; an improvoment in the amount of final product to be obtained by using residues with higher calcium carbonate content, while turning to alternative raw materials. Energy measure; Evaluating the renewable energy potential of the current location and implementing the project at the facility. Environmental criterion; With this project to be implemented, the use of groundwater will be reduced and a positive contribution to carbon emissions will be made, as fossil fuel consumption will decrease due to the decrease in operations in mines. Economy criterion; A contribution to the circular economy will be made by evaluating the product, which is considered as a waste, as a raw material. Social development criterion; With social responsibility projects, it is aimed to develop and develop good relations with local stakeholders. In the last part of the thesis, smart mining solution proposals that can be applied to the plant that is planned to be invested are mentioned. The aim of these solution proposals is; It is to ensure the sustainability of useful production, based on the philosophy of minimum energy and maximum efficiency, by optimizing each stage in line with these data, following the stock and evaluation of data by instantaneously monitoring every stage of production, maintenance and repair processes, stock management and shipment.
