Özet (EN)

Environmental pollution is one of the problems that are caused by rapid population increase. Recycling of these wastes is the only way of decreasing various pollutions. Polymeric materials are one of the major pollutants in the environment. Marble waste is another problem especially in Afyon region in Turkey. Marble waste can be used in many industries also. However, potential applications of marble waster are not enough to solve this problem either. In this study, it is aimed to prepare plasterboard by using polymer wastes as a binder and marble dust as a filling material. With this aim; Polyethylenetreftalat (PET) wastes will be glycolyzed and will be converted into unsaturated polyesters with the addition of adipic acid and maleic anhydride. These new monomers will be copolymerized by addition of styrene monomer and this resin will be employed as a binder in the marble dusts. At the same time the effects of differing ratios of used resin, used type of resin, styrene, cobalt naphtanante, MEKP and adipic acid/maleic anhydride will be investigated on their compression strength.
