Determining the perceptions of employees about occupational health and safety in the marble and quarry facilities

In this study, it was aimed to determine the perception levels of the individuals working in the marble and quarry facilities regarding occupational health and safety. The data of this cross - sectional study were collected from the employees in the marble and quarry facilities in the province of Antalya between March - April 2019. The research was completed with 194 employees. Survey data, personal information form and occupational health and safety perceptions were obtained through face-to-face interviews. As a result of the survey data, it is determined that the employees do not have occupational health and safety training in the periods specified in the laws and they do not have enough knowledge about the occupational health and safety laws and they are not aware of the hazards in the working environment. The mean perceptions of occupational health and safety in the marble and quarry facilities are slightly above the average level. As a result, effective workplace inspections and frequent workplace inspections and effective training of employees will reduce the number of occupational accidents and occupational diseases in the mining sector.
