Abstract (EN)

Bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers. Despite the studies for development of the treatment this disease, there has been no significant decrease in mortality rates due to bladder cancer. lncRNA Taurine Upregulated Gene 1 (TUG1) is expressed in many types of tissues and cell lines. Although the functions of the TUG1 gene are not fully understood, it is known that TUG1 gene product connects to PRC2 complex thereby affecting the expression of genes involved in the cell cycle and it increases cell proliferation in bladder cancer. Additionally, hsa-miR-203a-3p expression levels were determined as decreased in bladder cancer. In the light of these data, mimic-miR-203a- 3p was transfected into the bladder cancer cell line CAL-29 in order to investigate the relationship between TUG1 and hsa-miR-203-3p. However, there was no significant decrease in the expression level of TUG1 gene (p>0,05). Accordingly, hsa-miR-203a-3p could interact with other components which are in physical contact with TUG1 transcript. More detailed information regarding the development of bladder cancer could be obtained by the further investigation of the gene products which are capable of interacting with TUG1.
