The place and significance of the education of carpet business sector in vocational schools and the determination of its contribution to the carpet expertize

In this study, it is aimed to identify the place and importance of the education of weaving carpets in Vocational Schools of Higher Education in the carpet industry and its contribution to carpet expertise.The study is conducted in concordance with general scanning model. The sector members of hand-made carpent industry being active in real terms in 2007-2008 constitute of the research universe of the study. The sample of the study consists of the randomly chosen members of hand-made carpet industry being active in 24 different cities. A questionnaire is used for gathering data. Randomly chosen 393 subjects, who were decided on by paying attention to regional distributions, took the questionnaire and all of them were evaluated.The data was analysed by using SPSS 11.0 package program. The obtained data was evaluated with frequency distribution, t-test and corelation analyses.The results of the study can be summarized in the following way: Providing training programs that carpet experts as necessary, hand carpets of trained technicians and experts in the field are not enough experts in matters relating to courses in carpet program was found to be problems. Appraisal services had to be made of the standardization work, and experts are important to the economy of the country where services were arriving at their findings.The need for carpet technician has occured with the opening of the departments which graduate carpet experts in higher education institutions, expertice services? being programmed and planned legal regulations. Furthermore, uniting the carpent programs under the same name, dividing the program into different branches and the need for a common curriculum were suggested. It was suggested that the courses to be called as total quality management in carpent industry, technical analysis and artistic criticism in carpent industry can be added to the programs.Key Words: Education of Carpets, Carpet Business, Carpet Expertise.
