The level of post secondary vocational school instructors in using instructional materials (Kırşehir sampling)

This research was done to determine the level of post secondary vocational school instructors in using instructional materials with the opinions of students and instructors.This study was done by using the opinions of 566 second-year students and 74 instructors to identify the level of lecturers in using instructional materials in vocational collages of Ahi Evran University during 2009-2010 term. The study includes the characteristics of descriptive research model.The opinions of students and instructors was taken by administering the forms of which content reliability was provided by suggestions of experts to find out how often instructors use instructional materials. The data was analyzed by the help of SPSS 16 package program. Frequency, percentage, means and standard deviation of the data were calculated. Chi-square was employed to analyze the relationship between the opinions of students and instructors.According to the research findings, the instructors in vocational school not only have used classroom boards and published materials but also they have used flash memories, projectors and computers during the lessons in the class. On the other hand, it was found out that they have hardly ever used intelligent boards, opaque projectors, televisions, video-cameras and overhead projectors while teaching.The instructors have some opinions about the Educational Technologies that are not suitable for their courses and it was not possible to supply those materials in the school. According to this finding, it can be inferred that vocational school don?t have enough technical equipments and the instructors are not able to integrate new technologies into instruction process.Besides theoretical information, instructors are advised to follow new technological instruments and adapt them to teach better in the classroom. Whatever subjects of the instructors, they should develop themselves to use more often and effectively technological materials in their courses by following scientific publishes and participating in seminars, conferences and courses. All these are possible if only by giving more importance to the vocational collages, providing physical conditions enabling to use instructional materials comfortably and increasing the investments and funds to these schools.Key words: Education, Educational Technologies, Material and Technology, Equipment
