Determination of lifelong learning trends of nurses and nurse candidates using occupational nursing blog

Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine lifelong learning trends of nurse and nurse candidates who use vocational nursing blog which is developed by the researcher. Material-Method: This study was conducted online via "Dijital Hemsire Platform" through simple random sampling method. The sample consisted of 1061 nurse and nurse candidates who use Dijital Hemsire Platform. Ethics committee approval was received from Koc University Ethics Committee of Social Sciences Research and online approval was obtained from participants who accepted to participate in this study. Data were collected online with a sociodemographic questionnaire developed by the researcher and Lifelong Learning Trends Scale developed by Coskun in 2009. Data were analyzed in SPSS 22.0 with Student T-Test and ANOVA. Findings: Mean age of participants was found 26,1±6.7; 9.6% of participants had a corporate or personal blog; 9% of them had blog-writing experience; and 47.1% of them reported that they followed an occupational blog. Total mean score for lifelong learning trends of participants was found high as 134,39±19,92. Mean scores for the subdimensions of the scale was found higher than dimension mean score of the scale; motivation, persistence, lack of learning organization and lack of curiosity respectively. According to lifelong learning trends, nurses and candidates who were academics, continued for PhD, had a personal or corporate blog, wrote for a digital platform, followed occupational blogs scores were found significantly higher. Results: It was found that Dijital Hemsire Platform could have a positive effect on lifelong learning of nurses and nurse candidates.
