The effect of sociocultural structure and gender roles on the career choices of women who receive vocational music education

Social gender notion is one of the subjects that should be evaluated at performed studies about social analysis of music in socio-cultural structure. Socio-cultural structure can be defined as a notion which occurs togetherness of social and cultural institutions. This study's aims are reasons of professional preferences of women who have professional music education and depending on these reasons whether there is a relationship between preferences and social gender notion and socio-cultural structure or not. This research is designed on cross sectional identified pattern, simple (incidental) sample choosing technique which in contingent (representative) sample choosing technique, is used for detecting attenders. Both qualitative and quantitative data was needed in the study so a combined method was used. In the study, to identify the effects of gender roles on attenders' professional choices, BSRI is applied on Google Forms. To identify the effects of socio-cultural structure on professional choices, a structured interview form which is developed by researcher and consists of 10 questions is used. After identifying gender roles according to attenders' points which are taken on social gender role scale, Chi Square test is applied to examine the effects of social gender roles on professional choices. Data was analyzed on Microsoft Excel 2016 and SPSS v26 and significance level was accepted as p<.05. The most remarkable finding is that most of the attenders(%42) carry androgen speciality and reflect this situation to their professional choices in this study. On the other hand, it is reached that socio-cultural structure is affected by women's professional choices, too.
