Abstract (EN)

There are many problems that people face in their daily and occupational lives. Stress arises as a result of these problems and negatively affects their quality of life and work performance. Changes, events, conflicts or developments can cause stress. Stress is a factor that affects the individual physically, socially, psychologically and behaviorally. People show different attitudes and behaviors in the face of stress. Today's fast pace of life forces people to act quickly and make decisions. This situation causes people to live a more stressful life. As a natural consequence of this, various mistakes are made during working. Some of these mistakes cause problems in terms of occupational health and safety (OHS). Such mistakes can be more dangerous, especially in health sector. The fact that there is less tolerance for errors in health sector compared to other fields increases the occupational stress of people working in this field, which negatively affects their job satisfaction and performance. This study was carried out to determine the stress levels of health sector workers and to examine the effects of stress on performance. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to 250 health personnel working at Suq Alshuyukh Hospital in Zi Kar Governorate in the south of Iraq. From the results obtained, it was seen that the appreciation and being listened of the employees by their supervisors are effective in coping with stress. In addition, the most effective factors in increasing the performance were the security provided for the employees during the work, the salary and promotions, the personal development and promotion opportunities given to the employees.
