The relationship between management skills of managers and organizational health in vocational and technical anatolian high schools (Bolu province example)

This study aimed to examine the relationship between the management skills and organizational health of managers working in Vocational and Technical Anatolian high schools. For this purpose, a descriptive relational screening model, one of the general screening models, was used in the study. The sample of the research consists of 210 participants working in vocational and technical Anatolian high schools in Bolu province in the 2020-2021 Academic Year. The data required for the research was collected with a data collection tool that included items regarding the variables of the research and questions about the participants participating in the research. The data collection tool used in the research consists of three parts. The first section includes the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants. In the second part, the management skills scale was applied to the participants, and in the third part, the organizational health scale was applied to the participants. The obtained data were analyzed by creating a database in a computer environment using the SPSS 22.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) package program, taking into account the dependent and independent variables. Regarding teachers' perceptions of management skills, no significant difference was found in terms of gender variable. The management skills perception scores of teachers with a bachelor's degree were higher than those of teachers with a master's degree. In terms of the professional seniority variable, it was observed that teachers with less seniority had lower scores than teachers with more seniority. Perceptions of management skills were higher in teachers who did not receive in-service training than in teachers who received in-service training. According to teachers' perceptions, no significant difference was observed in terms of gender variable regarding organizational health. The scores of teachers with graduate degrees are higher than those of undergraduate teachers for all sub-dimensions of the organizational health scale and the scale as a whole. In terms of the seniority variable, teachers' total perception scores are low for teachers with less seniority, while they are higher for teachers with more seniority. When we look at teachers' organizational health perception scores in terms of the in-service variable, the scores of teachers who have not received in-service training are higher than those of teachers who have received in-service training. As a result of the research, no significant positive relationship was observed between the management skills of school administrators and organizational health according to teachers' perceptions. Suggestions were made within the framework of the results obtained from the research.
